Our Rubber
All Vintage mouthpieces are made from Behn propietary rod rubber. Our designs are made to capitalize on our rubber’s resonance characteristics, and are offered in four different configurations. When you purchase a Behn Vintage, you get not only a mouthpiece that has been made with care and precision, but you also get the results of our science and innovation. Our rubber comes from years of painstaking research and analysis. Each billet of hard rubber is handmade under laboratory conditions to ensure purity and consistency. Our proprietary formulation and cure produces material with beautiful tonal and resonance characteristics.

Ease of Music Making
How will our proprietary hard rubber affect your playing experience? In researching mouthpieces, we learned how material influences the sound, but achieving a better sound is only half of our hard rubber’s value. Your Vintage mouthpiece will play more easily. To create the most playable mouthpieces possible, we matched our designs to our material, by fine-tuning our designs to enhance the resonance characteristics of our hard rubber. You will make music with more freedom and comfort and you will no longer have to fight your instrument to produce the sound you want.

Achieving Your Sound
Our proprietary hard rubber is unusually receptive to the final voicing work each mouthpiece receives. Every Vintage Collection mouthpiece is handmade by Bradford Behn to play the way you desire. He does this by communicating with you to understand exactly what you want. After learning what your perfect mouthpiece should play like, he works very hard to achieve your sound in the finished product.
