Behn Vintage, Model C

Model C has our deepest baffle to help produce a floating legato and a deep bottom in the sound.  The altissimo register is a little more covered.  Because it has a deeper baffle, the throat is narrow to keep the total volume correct.  Excellent for all-purpose use, it produces a colorful mix of power and warmth.

The sound as produced on fine Charles Chedeville mouthpieces was the inspiration for this mouthpiece.  Model C is an original design and it is not a copy of any one Chedeville.  Its design combines our research of many Charles Chedeville mouthpieces with our own concepts.

Model C is made from Behn proprietary rubber rod.

A note about reeds and Behn Vintage designs

Behn Vintage mouthpieces are made with balanced facings, responsive material, and designs that invite efficient tone production.  These design elements can create a different feel than you may be used to. 

To help facilitate your adjustment period, we invite you try our mouthpieces with slightly lighter reeds than you may be used to.  Once reeds are fitted to a Behn Vintage, we believe you will find a new level of resonance that is unlike any mouthpiece you have ever played.
