Behn Vintage, Model A

Model A combines a very narrow throat with a straight baffle and long chamber to produce a warm, full-bodied sound that is pointed, resonant, and deep.  This mouthpiece has a lot of hold and produces a very stable feel.  Due to its ease of projection, this excellent orchestral mouthpiece yields a sweet effervescent tone that is filled with life and character.

The sound as produced on fine Henri Chedeville designs was the inspiration for this mouthpiece.  Please note that Model A is an original design and it is not a copy of any one mouthpiece.  Its design combines our research of many fine Henri Chedeville designs with our own concepts

Model A is made from Behn proprietary rubber rod.

A note about reeds and Behn Vintage designs

Behn Vintage mouthpieces are made with balanced facings, responsive material, and designs that invite efficient tone production.  These design elements can create a different feel than you may be used to. 

To help facilitate your adjustment period, we invite you try our mouthpieces with slightly lighter reeds than you may be used to.  Once reeds are fitted to a Behn Vintage, we believe you will find a new level of resonance that is unlike any mouthpiece you have ever played.
