We proudly announce our new BEHN Haptic Adjustable barrels—something which took 4 years to fully develop and then required investment of a full factory here in the US. Offered here are several types of adjustable barrels. They're made from either BEHN rod rubber (which can be outfitted with our beautiful wood overlay options) or Delrin (for a lower priced alternative). And they feature our unique Patented +HAPTIC Feedback built into the center ring's motion. Every 1/4 turn, you'll feel a slight point of resistance and release, giving you blind access to the exact position of your barrel's length.
CENTER RINGS:You can customize your barrel with center ring choices of Stainless Steel (SS), Hard Rubber (HR), Brass, Aluminum (AL), and Delrin.
The HR version is extremely lightweight at only 26 grams (note that a standard fixed length barrel with metal rings is typically around 46 grams by comparison). This is noteworthy especially if you find the weight of your clarinet cumbersome and seek a lighter, more comfortable experience. But the sound isn't light at all—it is full, lively, and flexible.
The SS version is heavier at 56 grams, offering significant rigidity, concentration, tonal impact, and power. It's got great "Eee".
The Brass version, about the same weight as SS offers a touch more tonal warmth and color. It's got a bit more "Oh"
The Aluminum version cuts it right down the middle between HR and SS. It's got perhaps a bit more "Euh" and a bit more flexibility of tone as well. Not quite as powerful as the heavier SS and BRASS rings, the lighter weight is however very noticeable. It's only a tad more hefty than the HR. AL is about 75% as powerful sounding as heavier SS and Brass, and 75% as flexible as HR. We also offer AL in several color choices, including standard silver.
The Delrin version is very similar to the HR center ring - it's light, nimble and fast handling.
FUNCTION:As for function, each barrel is strong, robust, and made with 5mm range of motion providing either 61-66mm or 63-68mm functionality. That should be sufficient for any need.
BODY MATERIALS:As for the difference between body parts - the Delrin material is very tough, and under well lit conditions, it's a touch grayer in color. Delrin creates a nice warm, dense sound. HR is blacker - it's a bit more resonant, and offers more tonal concentration. Our unique Wood options are a bit...well...woodier in their sound, they've got more depth and are truly the best of what we do. But make no mistake - all three materials: Delrin, Hard Rubber, and Wood Overlays (overlaying HR) are all truly wonderful. It's just that if one compares directly, the subtle differences will become evident. Let your budget be your guide - and enjoy the power and presence of our amazing design.
Note: Wood options can only be paired with HR body parts. The wood is a thick body overlaying the Hard Rubber internals. The bore is in fact HR - and that's a good thing, as our HR sounds great, and it'll maintain proper dimensions for a lifetime.

Our bore design allows you to relax your embouchure more, yet you'll produce a more focused and resonant sound. It's a double win! CUSTOM LENGTHS:
Note, that we can custom shorten your barrel down to a minimal length of 58mm as you'd like. And we can custom design the bore to your specifications as well. Let us know what you are looking for and we'll work together to create a wonderful barrel.
BORES:
BEHN bores are standard on all barrel purchases. Our unique Patented design creates incredible autofocus which allows you to relax more, play with increased comfort, and realize a more beautiful sound with proper focus and increased resonance.
Moennig inspired bore dimensions are available as custom made option on any barrel purchase. Purchase is required, but there is no added fee, just let us know if you'd like your bore to be Moennig-ized in the notes section in the ordering process.
