Many clarinets tune better when pulled at the center. Additionally, most clarinets are manufactured with a .5mm gap between internal faces between center joints when fully assembled. It is our view that this gap creates acoustic inefficiencies which hinder your sound and intonation. When the gap is filled, the resonance increases, the response becomes cleaner and the blowing feel becomes more uniform.
BEHN acoustic spacers allow you to fill the gap when pulled at the center. Each Spacer Kit comes with four pairs of tuning rings (one internal ring, and one external) in four different thicknesses; 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, and 2.0mm thicknesses.

Clarinet Acoustic Spacers (Tuning Rings)
Now you can select your BEHN acoustic tuning spacers in a visible color. Standard production is all BLACK, but we've had some clients ask for a more visible option in the event they drop their spacers in a dark environment such as the ballet pit. Hopefully this option will help you fetch your lost spacer without much stress.
But that's not all, we actually made the outer spacers two-toned. The perimeter is black to better blend with your instrument's appearance, however the inside of the external spacer is not black. It is visible. And the internal spacers are not black - they are also made to be visible.
You may not feel the need for this option, but when you drop your spacers - you'll thank us.
And the cool thing is that when your clarinet is assembled you will only see the black of the outside layer of the external ring. The core color is only visible when dissasembled.
There's nothing like this on the market - it's just another way for BEHN's problem solving spirit to help you find a better experience.
