This super old, and lovely Selmer is about as good as they come. It is just about as old as they come, the rubber sounds super resonant, and the response is amazing. I carefully reconditioned the facing to a medium 1.04mm tip opening with an 18mm length. It is made out of the finest Rod Rubber of the Pre-War Golden Era from which the most highly sought after mouthpieces originate. This Selmer was beautifully sculpted from the factory with a medium-small chamber, a very nice gentle A-frame to the throat - nothing too Germanic, it is still a fine french example. BTW the oldest of the Golden Era mouthpieces and the finest mouthpieces in my opinion were all carefully hand sculpted with a gentle A-frame. Some old Lelandais being the exemption, but the best Chedes and the best Selmers (and of course the best OEM Chedes were made with a gentle A-frame throat...but the key thing is that the throat in their best forms MUST be narrow, and the baffles not too deep). Although this mouthpiece's bore is a bit larger than I prefer, it plays great! The size of the bore in this case isn't an hinderance because the chamber volume is small enough to balance the bore's larger volume. Actually in the end, this combo helps deliver a fine intonation, and freedom with tonal scope. I think in balance it is just right! But because the bore is a bit larger than my preference I'm offering this amazing mouthpiece at a lower price of only $650.
