Notes from Brad Behn:
This vintage Selmer clarinet mouthpiece is an HS* which I reconditioned to optimum performance. It has been around for a long time as it was manufactured in the 1950s, when Selmer was using some excellent post-war era rubber to produce their beautiful sounding mouthpieces. This representation was modernized with a medium facing (1.05mm tip, 18mm length).
The discoloration (patina) and some scratches on the body show its age and represents its former life of service. This mouthpiece was used and appreciated by its previous owner. Now it is a perfectly performing mouthpiece which has been gently restored to its very best. Gently being that I didn't polish it or try to make it look like something new. I rather celebrate its patina by leaving it as an honest representation of a used mouthpiece. But no worries, it has a brand new, crisp, and balanced facing, ready to serve your artistry.
It has a wonderful, classic, vintage sound with full overtones. It is very responsive, easy to play, and works great for virtually all types of playing. How can that be? Because it is so resonant. This mouthpiece comes alive when you put wind through it. Just put a 3.5 reed on it, and hang on—you are in for an amazing journey!
NOTE: It is pictured here with its original cork, and it will benefit from being replaced. If you would like for us to replace the tenon cork for you (free with purchase), please indicate this when you order.
