I meticulously refaced and reconditioned this mouthpiece into a fantastic Medium facing (1.05-36), made to bring out the resonance and response of the wonderful rubber from which this antique Vandoren was made.  Of particular note, Louis Cahuzac was famous for his sound, and he was using this type of mouthpiece!
 
This special Vandoren was made during a time period when hand-made really meant something.  While most things were hand made back then, most things were also made with care, precision, and artistic integrity.  This mouthpiece exemplifies those things.  It is beautiful to look at and it is amazing to play.  It has a deep warm resonance, and it still rings true of the era from which it was made.  
 
A true collectors item, this mouthpiece is put together right.  Made by Vandoren when their mouthpieces were made with rubber material that had resonance in abundance.  I refaced it to enhance the resonance with modern reeds; the response just needed to be tickled to the surface, and I added some balance to the rails and chamber, helping make for a more efficient reed interface.  This mouthpiece has a warm, rich, and deep voice as compared to many of the same era from which it was made, and that's because this rubber is different.  It is softer, chalkier, and gummier all in one - it also smells different when worked - when the temperature is raised from the friction of the sandpaper.  Nothing to concern about, just interesting minutia.  
 
These old, best-of-what-they-did Vandoren Perfecta mouthpieces, were very special.  They sounded great back when they were made, and they sound great today! 
 
No returns on used mouthpieces, but if you can't get along with it after a week or so, I'll take it back as credit towards a BEHN Flagship mouthpiece (EPIC, EVOKE, VINTAGE).
